Fall in Florida

Oct. 2011 Blog #2

Fall in Florida

October is a grand month for Florida,
a break from the oppressive heat of summer.
It is downright invigorating. Terry and I go to a local park,
with a track and walk in the evening.
We did get a surprisingly strong wind event.
Even the weather channel was caught off guard.
Our granddaughter Alexis and I played games by candlelight.
She thought it a grand adventure.
Having sat through numerous hurricanes, this storm
had all of the marks of a week one. Including a period
of calm that resembled an eye.
Peace like a River flows through these days and I must remember
to constantly walk in thanksgiving. Even if it's official date
is a month away.
I am up to July 2009 in transferring poems from journals
on to the computer. I decided to look at one of my old
journals for some of my writings from October of 2008.
My father was still alive then and I found
an entry that I had sent to him. Here is a copy.

Happy Birthday Dad

A promise of long life
was given in the Book
long ago
It's definition varied
from age to age
place to place
For you Dad
long life has been measured
salted with care
and spiced with love
Your race through life
has demonstrated
a faithful son
caring brother
loving husband
great friend
loyal worker
best loved father
providing laughter
and fun filled adventures
I remember another wise man
who spoke of what your life
has demonstrated
Preach often
and when necessary
use words
Through your honesty
you taught me
Through unfailing love
I learned to obey
Now you have shown
how to accept the care
of those whose help I need
who love in sickness
and in health
Dad
you are my inspiration
to finish well.

I include two more poems written in Oct. 2008.

You Need Not Fear

Many came to the mountain
and saw the cloud descend
God's power and presence
appearing to those
He had chosen
As the earth shook
and the voice of the trumpet
blasted
Fear took hold
Only Moses was ready
to listen
He alone had talked with
the Almighty
Only Moses
out of all who were called
climbed on up
to face the God
of power immeasurable
Fear not
the Angel said
as shepherds stood watch
one night
As God's glory came
to earth as a man
Fear not
Christ spoke to those
who gathered in hiding
after death had challenged
what God alone
could bring to life
Resurrection's peace foretold
Standing scarred
before His chosen band
He breathed on them
As even now
this Holy breath
this Spirit Man
will guide and keep all those
who like Moses
choose to climb the mountain
and listen
face to face
to hear God's plan today
No enemy can overcome
what placed inside of Christ
is kept secure forever
Revelation's plan revealed
to those who have hearing tuned
to be still and know
this God
this Holy Spirit
who enters into man.

What Will Be

Future
invading flesh and blood
creating new thoughts
exquisite gems
coverings of gold
Music
that opens portholes
into realms of
opulent praise
Songs
that bring the face
of Jesus
Love full vintage wine
flowing
available
for those who are
poor in spirit
To drink
then teeter on
careening into fathoms
of the miraculous
Their minds awakened
to speak the word of God
To reach out
and supersede
insipid
Revealing gasps of
truly truly
how God can enter
into the heart
of man.

Punctuation Marks

Sept. 2011 Blog. # 2

(O.K., it's October, lightning knocked out our Internet )
and we are just now able to access it again.

Punctuation Marks

September has flown by. It has had a few punctuation marks.
Terry bought me a new lap top computer with all new software.
All new, different! Words that strike fear into a technology phobic.
I decided to stay positive and think of it as getting to know a new
"friend". If you are reading this successfully uploaded blog., This
means we have become "friends".
An exciting point in the month was a stay at Orange Lake Resort
near Disney, with Amanda and family. This was a business stay
for her. She reviews resorts for her web. site at, www.disneyeveryday.com.
Our stay was all good, our suite, the zero entry walk in pool, floating down
the lazy river, great dining, and Terry and I sitting by the pool watching
the full moon rise.
Terry's birthday was a huge success at his favorite restaurant, Texas de Brazil.
We were six in a semi private meeting room, waited on like royalty.
So the continued heat of a Florida September was not overpoweringly oppressive
after all.
The seasons march on and assurance of cool breezes, even in Florida,
match up with the promise of God, that His Kingdom is without end.

I add some of my poems.

A Glimpse Enough

From time to time
God pulls out
all the stops
with His color palette
From tiny birds
too long tailed parrots
from fields and meadows
to desert plains
In Praise
I wish to do the same
In dance
and song and verse
to proclaim His beauty
poured out
not just for a season
His promise placed for us
His beauty unimagined
I give to Him all praise
In faith
the knowing that
His promises
he keeps
The empty tomb
reverberating
no separation now
remains.

This Tongue to Tell

You are
a mighty stream
flowing with love
for all people
A tower of strength
a raft of safety
propelling us on
to a better place
Your mantle
covers
as the winds rage
You are shelter
in every storm
Your name is power
sending the enemy
to flight
Flow Holy Spirit
wash away deception
bring clarity to our minds
mingle our tears
with Your Holy wine
Make us glad
knowing that You
have provided the way
That our dwelling
will be with You
Unimagined pleasure
through your hand
As living epistles
Christ in us
with us
now and evermore.

Fire Fall

God's breath
it strips off all the flesh
leaving the part
that is more than
just skin deep.

What Was That

A leap of faith
much different
than an average walk
Those who leap
stand out
get to new destinations
provide pleasure
for the King
Attracting attention
as they point
to the Heavens.

Lowly Acts

The know it all
too soon will fall
'cause knowing
keeps on growing
Perpetual study
keeps one
from appearing nutty
as a know it all
Some
never get to
where they know
that they are
now it alls
Then there's the rare
who knows he never will
know everything
there is to know
Yet finds that if
he goes ahead
and activates his knows
Wisdom sprinkles in
and just knowing
what he can
and doing
leads to revelation
for the greater good
Even for the know it alls
who fall behind
when measured
side-by-side
with those who work
with what they do know
There is hope
As the rare
who knows he never will
humbly walks
and shows the rarest form
of doing
without any
showing off
of how it's done.
