March Blog: 2011
The Wind of March
March went by like the wind it is known for.
I am attending some creative writing classes offered at
our local library. They are very encouraging and stretch
my writing to include more varied subjects.
We all watched in horror as the devastation of the Japanese
tsunami played out before our eyes. So much sadness.
Much prayer and support needed for those affected.
I attended a seminar on, loving Mormons. What a great idea,
interaction on the platform of God's love.
In the past I would read as many as one book a week.
Trouble with dry our eyes has slowed down my reading.
Somehow I managed to read three books last month.
Guy Chevreau's, "Spiritual Warfare Sideways", a very good book
with the emphasis of keeping the focus on Jesus.
Also "Seven Spirits Burning", by Crowder.
I re-read one of my favorites. "Sadhu Sundar Singh", by Thompson,
A biography of an Indian mystic who was a disciple of Jesus.
I'm working on a project based on his life.
March included two trips to Disney parks. One to Animal Kingdom,
where I visited the blue frogs and gorgeous tigers.
Another day spent at EPCOT Park's flower and garden festival.
We lunched outdoors with ducks and ibises wondering through.
Then dinner by a fountain watching a French gymnast act. Two little
Chinese boys playing in the water with their grandfather added to the
entertainment.
The month was rounded out by phone calls from brothers who live
far away and visits from friends who live south of here.
Although I'm homebound with a nasty cold at the moment, by soul
prospers with the many riches Christ has lavished on my life.
Some of my poems:
In The Now
If the road ahead
appears to be
only a destination
a challenge to endure
Take the blinders off
look left and right
stop and breathe
as if time is not
your master
Then experience the now
all along the way.
Infallible
The term
get it together
implies
that you are not
in control
A truth
that at its core
hints
this control
can somehow
be appropriated
Good news
a perfect time
to give control away
Hand it over
be found
in a much better
habitation
Christ
who holds all things
has given
an open invitation
His Kingdom
come
His power
inserted into all areas
of life
A place that allows
delight
to be ones daily bread.
In the Beginning
Formed
patterned
the dust of the earth
the water of life
Set ablaze with light
infused with breath
covered
chosen
placed
Then deception
crept to close
was not resisted
fallen
fallen into sorrow
out of sync
A promise is given
provision made
God providing himself
the resurrection
Flee destruction's
age old presence
fling yourself into
the waiting arms
of Christ
of love
of life
Giving up nothing
of eternal value
replacing temporary
tastes
with everlasting
long awaited union
with the source
For He is truth
and life.
